It's stuff like this that makes me hate Christianity
So today I was looking on CNN for story ideas for the newspaper and I found an article that not only infuriated, but disturbed me. It was a story about a church-going family from Kansas who protest at the funerals of fallen soldiers. What do they protest? They say the soldiers are fighting for an army that represents a country that accepts homosexuality. So they go to funerals and hold up signs like "God hates your tears" and "Thank God for dead soldiers."
They do this because they think that it's necessary to preach about the things God hates, which I agree with, but to protest at a funeral? That's going a little far in my book. It's one of those, "Keep your morals off my body" kind of things.
In response to the protests, a group of bike riders who call themselves the Patriot Gaurd Riders, have shown up at multiple funerals to keep the protesters out and give the families peace.
The protesters also blame homosexuality for "ruining America." Now, it's stuff like this that really makes me hate Christianity, I don't even have to explain why, but I hope they eventually see how hurtful this can be to people, and how it drives people away from Christianity rather than drawing them in.
