Johnny Cash, ladies and gentlemen

So I'm watching "Walk the Line" at the moment. This will be the second time I've seen this movie. The first was moving to say the least. It's amazing to me that some of the best songwriters in history were so fucked up beyond all reason. It's sad, but amazing the things they went through. Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis. All of these amazing men, all broken.

Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is that the nature of humans in times of distress is to find something that numbs the pain. Whether it be drugs, sex, booze, self-mutilation, it's all there, and it happens to the best of us.
