Statutory Rape
So here's the law in Oregon for statutory rape:
Statutory rape. (a) Statutory rape is sexual penetration of a
victim by the defendant or of the defendant by the victim when the victim
is at least thirteen (13) but less than eighteen (18) years of age and the
defendant is at least four (4) years older than the victim. (b) If the
person accused of statutory rape is under eighteen (18) years of age, such
a defendant shall be tried as a juvenile and shall not be transferred for
trial as an adult. (c) Statutory rape is a Class E felony.
In other words, if someone is over the age of 18, it is illegal, regardless of consent, for them to have sex with anyone under the age of 18. Here's what's interesting though:
In Oregon, it's basically illegal to have sex under the age of 16... which means that a lot of the kids in our school would be in jail... ah well... too bad we didn't know that, or have been told that at all in school, that would be nice to know.
